It’s a short week, but here’s what I managed to accomplish:
1. A pen and ink sketch of our outdoor shower. It’s an old coconut tree with a shower attached to it. We’ve been remiss and have allowed the weeds to take over and vines are growing all over it. But we enjoy it.
2. Sketches of our cat Velveteen, problem is, she keeps moving around.
3. A painting/colored pencil mixed media of a view from the Alhambra in Spain. I took the inspiration from a photo from our trip, but this painting really bothered me and I kept wanting to give up. I didn’t know how to handle the interior section, I didn’t want to add all the detail of the little houses. What I liked was the clouds and the walkway. I decided to just go for it and brought in a bunch of different colors.
4. On New Year’s Day, I took our dog Kona with me to the beach, along with my sketching bag, only to discover that I’d packed the wrong sketchbook. It was really just a notebook, so I did a quick sketch of the Mokapu peninsula. It was a really gorgeous day, I took a picture with my cell phone and maybe I’ll come back to this view on a rainy day.
I hope you have enjoyed what I’m trying to do, which is practice, practice, practice. You are welcome to use these images in your blogs, all I ask is that you credit them to Rachel Funk Heller and add a link to this site, rachelfunkheller.com Thanks for stopping by!
Very impressive, Rachel! Keep drawing. 🙂
