Hey everyone, I am happy to report that the lonely, painful tooth is feeling all better thanks to all the various therapies applied including dental, massage, and laser lights. But what a toll it took on my energy and enthusiasm. I will say I took the time to relax and I gave my body the time it needed to recalibrate. I stayed on track with the diet, but the tooth pain affected my enthusiasm there too. No, I didn’t binge out on sweets, I just didn’t have the energy to cook fresh dishes and relied on leftovers and didn’t actually get enough calories in. I know that sounds off, but I need the calories for the workouts that I do.

But this week, I’m seeing the light and getting back on track. I finally finished one of my lilly drawings. Please note the darker background to make the flower really pop.

I'm very pleased with how this one looks now. Let's hear it for the midtones!

I also went back to a subject I just love, it’s the old shoe with the bow wrapped around it. I set it up on the kitchen table and did this sketch.  I also took several photos for future projects.

This is so very whimsical, I love it.

But before I did this set up, I cleaned off the table and look who decided to sprawl herself out on the table…our darling Miss Velveteen. I thought I’d try to sketch her, but as soon as I busted out the sketchbook, she ran off.

But she didn’t run off too far.

Okay, this week in art class we will be doing more work on still lifes (or is that still lives?) , so stay tuned.
